Grant for Mentees

The Severance Alumni Association USA is proud to introduce the Career Development Grant, a financial support program designed to empower mentees who are currently in training programs across the United States. This initiative reflects our commitment to nurturing the next generation of Severance alumni as they build meaningful and impactful careers in medicine.

  • selected mentees may receive up to $3,000 in funding to support career-building activities. These may include, but are not limited to:
  • Presenting at academic or professional conferences
  • Publishing research in peer-reviewed journals (e.g., article processing fees)
  • Participating in career-enhancing workshops, courses, or certifications

We welcome proposals that clearly demonstrate how the requested support will contribute to the applicant’s professional development and long-term goals. By investing in our mentees today, we hope to help shape tomorrow’s leaders in medicine.

This grant is open to active mentees in the Severance Alumni Association’s Career Mentoring programs who are currently enrolled in a U.S.-based training program (medical students, residents, fellows, or postdocs).

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be an active participant in an SAA mentoring program
  • Must currently be in a training program or research position in the U.S.
  • Proposed activity must clearly contribute to professional or academic development
  • Funding may be used for conference registration, travel/lodging, publication fees, or other related expenses (up to $3,000 per project)

How to Apply:

  • Applications must be submitted online through the SAA Career Development Grant Application Portal on our website.
  • Applicants should be prepared to provide:
  • A brief personal statement
  • Description of the activity and its relevance to their career
  • Estimated budget and funding request
  • Letter of support from a mentor & the regional chair of SAA
  • Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis or during set review cycles (TBA). Selected recipients will be notified via email.
