Mentorship Programs at Severance Alumni Association USA

At the Severance Alumni Association (SAA) in the United States, we believe that strong mentorship is the foundation for professional success and meaningful connection. Our mentorship initiatives are designed to support alumni and future members at every stage of their journey—whether preparing for U.S. residency or building a long-term career in the US.

SAA Boot Camp

For Pre-Residency Candidates (Within 24 Months of Applying)
The SAA Boot Camp is a structured, small-group mentoring program for alumni and current students planning to apply for U.S. residency within the next two years.
We highly recommend that participants have already passed USMLE Step 1 and have scheduled Step 2 CK before joining.

  • Monthly small-group meetings
  • Personalized guidance on the residency application process
  • Practical advice on U.S. clinical experience, exams, and interviews
  • Peer support and long-term connections

Career Mentoring

For Alumni in U.S. Training or Practice
The Career Mentoring Program is designed for alumni who have already started their residency, fellowship, or careers in the U.S.
This program connects junior members with senior alumni who offer:

  • Career navigation advice
  • Specialty-specific insights
  • Work-life balance strategies
  • Support for long-term professional growth

Whether you are choosing a subspecialty, navigating job offers, or exploring academic opportunities, this mentorship can guide you through critical career decisions and transitions.

SAA Career Development Grant for Mentees

The Severance Alumni Association USA is proud to introduce the Career Development Grant, a financial support program designed to empower mentees who are currently in training programs across the United States. This initiative reflects our commitment to nurturing the next generation of Severance alumni as they build meaningful and impactful careers in medicine.

Through this program, selected mentees may receive up to $3,000 in funding to support career-building activities. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Presenting at academic or professional conferences
  • Publishing research in peer-reviewed journals (e.g., article processing fees)
  • Participating in career-enhancing workshops, courses, or certifications

We welcome proposals that clearly demonstrate how the requested support will contribute to the applicant’s professional development and long-term goals. By investing in our mentees today, we hope to help shape tomorrow’s leaders in medicine.
