The SAA Career Mentoring program connects mentees with experienced alumni mentors and provides structured opportunities for guidance, networking, and professional growth. It is designed for alumni who have entered U.S. training or are in the early stages of their careers.
How It Works
- Mentees in U.S. training programs (residents, fellows, or early-career physicians) are matched with alumni mentors.
- Mentors share insights from their experience in clinical practice, academia, research, and other career paths.
- Specialty-specific Mentoring Advisors help facilitate connections and provide additional field-specific support.
The program holds online meetings every three months. These sessions bring mentees and mentors together to discuss practical career development topics, including clinical growth, research and academic productivity, career planning, networking, and navigating the transition to independent practice.
In addition, the SAA Annual Scientific Meeting offers a yearly opportunity for mentees to engage more deeply—presenting their work, participating in career development sessions, and connecting with mentors and peers in person.
